celebrate webversion

There is no shortage of exciting news brewing in this camp! Over the next few weeks there are several exciting events happening to celebrate the Official Release of To Dance in the Rain – A Mother and Daughter’s Journey of Hope and Healing.

On Wednesday April 30th we will have our very first Author Talk, Book Signing and Celebration at the Litchfield Community Center at 7pm. It is free and open to the public. …if that didn’t grab your attention… wine, cheese, soft drinks and light desserts will be served!     : )

Please come and join us in this celebration of what love, hope and community can do!

The Official Release/ Publication Date of To Dance in the Rain – A Mother and Daughter’s Journey of Hope and Healing, as registered with the Library of Congress (LCCN) is May 4, 2014. Although, not even slightly coincidental, this is Alicia’s Birthday. Happy impending Birthday Alicia!

I am also thrilled to announce that there will be a To Dance in the Rain Book Signing and Reception at St. Mary’s Hospital on Thursday May 8th in the hospital’s conference room (adjacent to the employee garage) at 6pm. This event, hosted by St. Mary’s, will include a few words by the author : ) followed by the book signing and reception.

I have worked at St. Mary’s Hospital since volunteering at the age of 14, and have worked in a variety of positions throughout high school, college and while attending nursing school there. Starting as a nurse in CCU there in 1982 and in the ED since 1984, St. Mary’s has always been home for me and I am excited to share my work with my St. Mary’s family and with the Waterbury Community.  This event is open to the public and promises to be an enjoyable evening. Please come out and celebrate with us.

Hope to see you all soon!

As of this afternoon, To Dance in the Rain is also available for purchase at the Middlebury Consignment, 1365 Whittemore Rd, Middlebury, CT 06762. Had lunch there today; it was amazing!

Author Clare Keating provides perspective and wisdom through the recounting of stories as they occurred in the wake of her daughter Alicia’s suffering a catastrophic brain injury, at the age of sixteen. This book is a ‘How To’ manual for adversity survival.

In a matter of minutes life as you know it can change. A sudden and catastrophic event shatters the life of someone you love dearly. Something that you could never have imagined dealing with has just happened; you are called upon to do the impossible. As if by instinct, we know how to protect and care for the ones we love, particularly our children. Never doubt yourself and don’t ever give up; what you do will make all the difference in the world.

Each chapter of To Dance in the Rain provides examples of actions as well as messages of hope for anyone facing such a turn of events.  An ER nurse of now 30 years, Clare has a first hand knowledge of the important role health care providers have in the healing process of the critically ill child as well as their family. As a mother she brings insights to encourage parents to always advocate for their children, and to never give up hope.

To Dance in the Rain is available for $10.95 through the website: or by contacting Mary Grace Keating at Ceitinn Press: Phone 203-206-3280

*Register to attend by calling or emailing The Litchfield Community Center*
